Here are selected projects I have shipped as a full-stack engineer — sometimes solo, sometimes on a team. A few engagements stay private under contract, so this list is only a sample of the work.
Kerplunk: 2025
Ruby on RailsRuby on Rails
ReactReact
PythonPython
Amazon AWSAmazon AWS
Full-stack software engineer at Kerplunk, an AI-powered staffing and recruiting platform that helps organizations source, recruit, and retain talent. I ship features across a Ruby on Rails 8 backend and a React frontend.
Integrated LLMs so recruiters can analyze candidates and job descriptions — including sentiment analysis on interview feedback and word-cloud views that surface themes at a glance.
Exposed internal tools to LLMs through the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and built chatbots that answer recruiter and candidate questions inside the product.
Wrote Python AWS Lambda services for asynchronous, event-driven work beside the Rails core, with automated tests covering both Ruby and Python.
Used AI coding agents day to day for features and refactors, with the test suite as the safety net for their output.
Lillio Observations: 2024
Ruby on RailsRuby on Rails
ReactReact
PostgreSQLPostgreSQL
Amazon AWSAmazon AWS
I was tech lead and full-stack engineer on Observations at Lillio, a product feature that helps educators record and review classroom observations.
I connected a Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL backend to responsive React and React Native interfaces on AWS.
I worked on Posto7, a nutrition app backed by React, Firestore, and Firebase.
My main contribution was the admin portal that lets the back-office team manage content and users without touching the mobile client.
PSMI: 2020
Ruby on RailsRuby on Rails
PostgreSQLPostgreSQL
Node.jsNode.js
Amazon AWSAmazon AWS
I maintained a Brazilian education platform that hosts a large catalog of courses.
The stack included Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, Express, Google Cloud Functions, and AWS.
I upgraded Ruby and Rails versions and moved infrastructure from GCP to AWS so the product could keep shipping on a supported platform.
Mangue Tecnologia: 2020
Ruby on RailsRuby on Rails
PHPPHP
MySQLMySQL
I maintained an educational platform with a wide course catalog in Brazil, using Ruby on Rails, PHP, JavaScript, and MySQL.
I also built several e-commerce sites that improved checkout flows and day-to-day usability for store operators.
Chefstrela: 2019
WordPressWordPress
MySQLMySQL
I delivered a gastronomy e-commerce site with another engineer and a designer so customers could browse and order culinary products online.
We built it on WordPress and MySQL.
Casa Roberto Marinho: 2018
Ruby on RailsRuby on Rails
MySQLMySQL
jQueryjQuery
I built a content management system for a cultural and educational organization so editors could publish and organize materials without developer help.
The app used Ruby on Rails, MySQL, and jQuery.
Kariri Sapuyá: 2018
Ruby on RailsRuby on Rails
ElasticsearchElasticsearch
MySQLMySQL
MongoDBMongoDB
I built a digital archive and CMS for historical documents about Indigenous peoples of Northeast Brazil.
The system used Ruby on Rails, Elasticsearch, jQuery, MySQL, and MongoDB so researchers could search and browse the collection.
Hey — I'm Vinicius L. Gesteira (Vini), a senior full-stack engineer.
Since 2014 I've built web products end to end: Ruby and Rails, React and Svelte,
Node, Rust, Solidity, Docker, and AWS, plus machine learning, scraping, and Python tooling when the problem needs it.
I care about clear interfaces, reliable backends, and shipping with a test suite close by.
